TRENDING - Nigerians dig up 2014 tweet of lady predicting how Buhari will ban Twitter, other media platforms

It was  reported earlier today that the Federal Government announced the suspension of microblogging and social networking service, Twitter in Nigeria.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed made the announcement during a press conference on Friday.

Mohammed said the Federal Government has also directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.

The statement titled, ‘FG Suspends Twitter’s Operations in Nigeria’, read in part; “The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.”

A tweet made 7 years ago by a Nigerian lady predicting how Buhari will suspend Twitter and other media platforms.

The lady with handle @Art_of_Achalugo had made the prediction in 2014, before President Buhari was elected for his first term in office.

According to her, there would be a systemic expunging of media platforms, starting with Twitter, after which DSTV will follow and other traditional media except for NTA.

She had tweeted; ”Vote for Buhari. Let him make mistake and win. Twitter will go first. Then DSTV. Then all channels but NTA. Followed by dress code, curfew..”
